Well, I’m not actually a dental student, but a pre-dental student as well! I am applying to start dental school next year. Right off the bat, these are some things you should tackle:
Start shadowing regularly. Not only will you see a day in the life of a dentist, but the experiences that you have will help you write your entrance essays and help you in your interviews. Working alongside a dentist (if it is what you are interested in) will make you SO passionate about dentistry, and that will show in your applications!
Go ahead and think about the dental schools that you want to apply to. Look up what those schools, and what classes they require and recommend. Look up their average GPAs and DAT scores. Knowing all that info off the bat will be super helpful.
If you’ve never really worked much with your hands, take a sculpture/pottery/jewelry-making class. First of all, they’re awesome. But most of all, they help you learn how to do small, tedious things with your hands which will help BIG TIME. I work in a dental office now, and working on small teeth can make your hands cramp if you’re not used to it.
Umm, join clubs… study… and stay interesting. My school has a medical and dental school, and I see so many students who are cookie-cutter. They are all the same! Make sure you maintain your own interests that keep you quirky. Professional schools are starting to look for well-rounded people, not just nerdy kids!
Sorry if that was too much information. Does that help at all? Can you tell I’m totes a nerd?
Life is good. :) I DOMINATED my DAT!
Now, I can stop worrying about that, and focus on myself. I feel like I’ve been missing out on a lot.
And now that is has warmed up, Josh and I are going to have a regular running schedule!
yayy life!
SOOOOO TIREEDDDDD. BRAIN MUSHHHHH.
After DAYS of studying, I am just so so ready to get this DAT over with and resume my life! I haven’t been in the mood to eat, sleep, or move. I’m just so stressed out!
I really hope I do well. :/ Friday’s the day.
Just ate the best salad for dinner! I just want to go back for more!
Roasted veggie salad from California Pizza Kitchen = SOOOOO GOOOOD.
Grilled chicken with roasted artichoke hearts, asparagus, eggplant, red and yellow peppers, corn, and sun-dried tomatoes over romaine with avocado and Dijon balsamic vinaigrette.
I WILL be making this.

Making this!
That feeling when you’re planking, and you feel this ungodly burning that wraps around your back, and you just want to die. But you keep going because you know you are torturing those damn love handles.
And they deserve it.
i gotta hot date with three valentines. exciting, i know.
I have noticed subtle differences in my body since I have started exercising and eating better. Which is great! But I haven’t noticed any measurable differences that I can really take a hold of.
I know I shouldn’t judge my results by the number on the scale, but I just wish the number would change A LITTLE. Just to justify the changes I’ve made lately.
I guess I’m going to have to go back to tracking my calories like a mad woman.
I gotta lose this weight!
Workout this morning was soooo hard. Ugh. I feel terrible. I got kind of dizzy, and now my stomach is cramping up. Owie. I just wanna skip out on life today.
Woe is meeeee. Haha (kinda)

Okay. I know I said that I didn’t believe in posting pictures of random people to idolize, buuuutttt…
This is just plain amazing.
